Rather than spending £70m of other people’s money on a white elephant like their hotel proposal for the site next to the BIC, I believe Bournemouth Borough Council should be spending the money on social housing for the thousands who simply want somewhere to live in our town! This proposal is typical of so many schemes Bournemouth’s Tory council is invovled with where they show little if any regard for local families. How many homes could they build for a similar sum?
If they really want to maximise the potential of this particular, town centre site, how about building something like a serious theatre/opera/ballet venue with art gallery? Let’s enhance the cultural life of the area, provide new employment opportunities at a year-round, all-weather facility and do something that might encourage many more people to visit the town and use the great hotels we already have.
